Nancy is off for a visit to Dear Mountain Hotel to test her skill on the links.  Soon she encounters the pretentious young golfer Mortimer Bartescue.  An errant golf stroke leads Nancy into the woods where rather than find her ball, she discovers a brass jewel case.  Knowing her father is on the lookout for a ring of jewel thieves, Nancy is soon underway upon another adventure.
