Amazing Adventure, The

The most debonair of movie stars - Cary Grant - has one of his great early roles in this fast-paced romantic comedy/love story. Grant portrays multi-millionaire Ernest Bliss, a young man who has lots of money but little to do. He seeks the help of a physician who decides that wealth is Ernest's problem and prescribes a unique cure: Ernest must go to work and earn his own living for a year, using none of his current wealth. Betting his doctor £50,000 that he can, his amazing adventure begins! Moving from one job to the next, he quickly rises from his position as a chauffeur to the executive boardroom. On his climb he learns many lessons of humility and falls in love with a young secretary (Mary Brian). Will Ernest's amazing adventure end happily? More than 60 years after it was filmed, the movie's last scenes will still surprise you!

Animal Kingdom, The

Wanton, carefree playboy Tom (Leslie Howard) is the salaciously behaving heir to a publishing fortune. At his father's insistance, Tom decides to become respectable and marry "good girl" socialite Cecelia (Myrna Loy). Ruefully, Tom discards his capricious, free-spirited mistress Daisy (Ann Harding) and tearfully bids farewell to the pleasure and follies of youth. However, Tom and Cecelia's union is without love and Cecelia's passion is corrupt, icy and calculated. Once married, it is Cecelia, ironically, who embarks on a series of wild carnal adventures, while Daisy, once an advocate of free love, pines away for Tom.

At War With the Army

The first starring vehicle for Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, At War With The Army features Martin as the smooth, confident ladies man and Lewis as the bumbling, inept dolt who wreaks havoc everywhere he goes. As Martin bursts into song, Lewis struggles to understand the workings of a Coke machine, successfully creating a character pattern for future Lewis & Martin movies. Lewis is spectacular singing "The Navy Gets The Gravy But The Army Gets The Beans," and is at his slapstick best in this musical comedy set in a WWII army training camp. Lewis is a hopeless private and Martin an overbearing First Sergeant - the two were raised in the same neighborhood before enlisting, and now they find themselves dealing with a loudmouth drill instructor, a sly supply sergeant, a hen-pecked company commander, and a battalion of other zany military characters.
