Who are the powers that prey? Whose identity conceals the accredited spy? Who possesses the password which proves an open sesame to the most exclusive social circles in the gay and cosmopolitan city? The murder of one of Kathleen's suitors in her house under surprising conditions, leads from one complication to another, and mystery succeeds mystery until the solution is reached in the final chapter.
