Jim
Meeker
came
down
from
Montana
to run
Texas
cattle--only
to find
that
Hoppy's
Bar-20
ran the
water.
So when
a trio
of
snake-mean
rustlers
started
themselves
a cattle
war, the
powder
was
primed,
the guns
cocked,
and
Hoppy
was
smack in
the
middle.
So it's
friend
against
friend,
brother
against
brother,
gun
against
blazing
gun.
Time's
running
out, and
the
range is
red with
blood.

Hopalong
Cassidy
and Red
Connors
the most
lovable
and
dangerous
pair of
punchers
that
ever
forked a
bronco
or
fanned a
six gun,
met up
with 150
pounds
of human
wild-cat
in the
person
of
Mesquite
Jenkins.
Hoppy
thinking
of the
son he
had
lost,
took the
young
Mesquite
under
his wing
and the
three
started
on a
1,500
mile
ride to
Montana.
A lot
can
happen
in 1,500
miles
with
three
men just
hunting
for
trouble
and such
places
to find
it as
Dodge
City and
Ogallala.
It was
at Dodge
City
that
Mesquite
got
mixed up
with the
red-haired
dame and
was
pulled
out of
serious
trouble
by some
neat
work
with the
colts on
the part
of Hoppy.
And then
at
Ogallala,
Mesquite
chased
the
bad-acting
Deputy
clean
out of
the
county
by an
exhibition
of nerve
and
skill,
which
delighted
Hoppy.
A day
later,
four of
the
Deputy's
friends
tried to
pot them
and
again
Mesquite
escapes
unharmed.
There
are a
lot more
adventures.
The kind
that
make you
itch to
grab a
gun and
get in
on the
fun.
It's a
great
story
and if
Hoppy
now
wants to
turn
himself
out to
grass,
Mesquite
Jenkins
will
carry on
with
honor.
