Return & Refund Policy -- Website Purchases

Digitally Remastered Dustjackets (Special Custom Orders).

All special custom order sales are final.

Since remastered dustjackets are prepared individually as special custom orders we cannot accept returns on these items.  As with other retailers and distributors, we cannot allow returns for packages that have been opened.  Unfortunately we must resort to this strict policy to prevent the possibility of anyone copying and pirating our work.  Therefore, we are left no alternative other than to state that we offer no refunds on custom digitally remastered dustjackets once the package has been opened.

If the original item is returned unopened in the original sealed mailing parcel or box, then we will allow a return subject to a restocking fee of 25% of the price of the item(s) plus postage costs.  Since the post office does not refund the postage to us, we cannot, in turn, refund the postage to you.  For example, if you place an order for $50 plus $5 shipping, and return the package unopened -- you would be subject to a restocking fee of $12.50 plus $5 S/H, or $17.50.

Classic Movies and Old Time Radio Shows (DVDs or CDs).

As with all major vendors and retailers, we cannot accept returns on digital media.  On DVDs, once the seal is broken, we cannot accept returns (again, this is a preventative practice employed worldwide as a deterrent to digital copying).

If you receive a broken or defective item, please return the item in question, and we will provide a replacement copy.
In the case of old time radio shows, if their is some type of physical damage found, we will only send replacement CDs, upon the return of a defective or incorrectly described item, or an insured item damaged in shipping.

If a replacement is not in stock, we will issue a refund of the purchase price plus the original shipping fee paid upon verifying the defect. To help prevent CD & DVD piracy and copying, if the item is found not to be defective and is as described, it will be returned.

If there is a problem with your shipment that may be able to be solved without sending back an item, please email us at orders@newportvintagebooks.com. We are able to solve many problems without having you go through the effort of shipping a return back to us.

Please note that we can credit or refund shipping costs only if the return is a result of our error [i.e., incorrect product or wrong size]

Return & Refund Policy -- Online Auctions

Refund Requests

For auction purchases, all sales are final unless there is a significant error in listing or item description (i.e., wrong edition, unnoted damage)

Refund request of listed item price available, if item is not as described, upon prior telephone or e-mail notification.

All returns to be received as shipped and insured within 7 days of return authorization.

Although we try to describe the items to the best of our ability, a time may come when someone wishes to return the item for whatever reason. We are understanding in this respect and do offer return privileges if items are returned in the same condition as sent.  Please realize that there are limitations, and we have certain expenses involved, listing fees, sales commissions and packing fees for shipping.  These fees would not be refundable as well as the shipping costs to you and your costs to return items to us. The difference will be refunded once item is returned. Please notify us of a return ahead of time and put ample documentation in with returned item so we know who to send the refund to.

Direct Sales vs. Auction Sales
It is important to remember that online auctions are a different forum as compared to the venue of direct sales. By its nature, an auction environment solicits competitive bidding between different buyers. Once the auction ends, a winner is established and a sale is realized. If a winning bidder seeks to return an item, this process is circumvented and the auction mechanism is in essence defeated.  What a winning bidder may consider to be below par -- the other bidders may have been well aware of -- and more than willing to bid for at that price.  This is why it is imperative that buyers must seek out auctions that have accurate and detailed listing descriptions and appropriate photographs, and be willing to ask questions when necessary.

A majority of eBay sellers offer their items for sale "as is" or "all sales final."   We do not place such strict restrictions on our auctions, because we do our best to help buyers & collectors with our highest standards of trust and assurance. However, it is important to remember that most eBay sellers are offering wholesale products, inventory reductions/overstocks, deep discounts or consignment sales --and as a result do not or cannot offer returns.  Otherwise, the seller would potentially be left with fees and other expenses and lose the opportunity to sell the item to other bidders. That is why many sellers refuse all return requests -- regardless of reason.

Order Cancellations & Restocking Fees:
If the customer decides to cancel their order whether the order has been shipped or still being processed, Newport Vintage Books shall have the right to charge a 25% order cancellation fee.  All related fees (shipping & return shipping fees) are NON-REFUNDABLE for all products in all cases.

Shipments that are refused without authorization, or that are returned to us because the address was invalid, are subject to a restocking fee of 25% plus applicable shipping and handling fees.

Return Merchandise Authorization:

To return an item, please indicate the reason for return on the packing slip, include the packing slip with the item you are returning, wrap the package securely and ship to the address below.  Please be sure to contact us in advance for your RMA number as outlined above.
